If that one small, shining star -
Trying hard to light your way -
Were to suddenly flicker and burn out;
Would you even notice
One less toy high upon your Shelf,
Less clutter in your perfect life
To get in your busy path.
Maybe you'd breathe a sigh
To have less to blind your way;
Maybe you'd feel a weight
Lifted off Platonic shoulders.
My light gets lost,
The burden lifted.
My tears leave trails
Through the dust on
The Shelf.
